Goals & Achievements

I believe in honoring my commitments!

For the past four years, I’ve been proud to stand up for residents in town. And I would like to finish the work we started -- together.

Let's improve the quality of life for our families and our children.

- Keith Kaplan

Brought Government Online

Councilman Kaplan spearheading the use of new technologies like the Spatial Data Logic (“SDL”) system to make electronic permitsonline requests for licensing, scheduling visits, and more available to residents.

The improvements have freed up staff time, enabling better services for residents.

Responsiveness and Transparency

Councilman Kaplan held department heads accountable to provide more information to our residents.  He also made government more transparent and accessable to all through blogging and publishing of traffic studies, information and explanatory sessions.

Reduced Delays and Expenses For You

Councilman Kaplan worked with the Planning Board, Zoning Officials, Local Businesses, and more to remove barriers and red tape — allowing small businesses and residents to more easily enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Updated Our Code

Over the past four years, Councilman Kaplan initiated the first comprehensive review of our Town Code in decades.  The recodification process helps more residents more easily navigate local laws and requirements.

Our code is “up-to-date” for the first time in decades.

Safety and Infrastructure

Councilman Kaplan worked hard with fellow council-members to fund resurfacing of a record number of roads, perform traffic safety studies, and create safety improvements that were requested by residents.

Leader in Community Health

Teaneck led the way in creating a POD (point of dispensing) for vaccine delivery to thousands per day to help ensure the safety of residents during the COVID pandemic.

  • Increased the number of roads paved per year
  • Improved our municipal complex, buildings, and parks for better access.
  • Saved the township hundreds of thousands of dollars by joining the Joint Insurance Fund
  • Improved amenities through creative solutions that save taxpayers money — like the prefabricated restrooms in Phelps Park

  • Helped make the government more accountable and transparent, as well as easier to deal with.
  • Advocated and secured a new pre-fab bathroom which was installed at Phelps Park with plans to install more modern restrooms at other township parks in the coming years.

Let's Keep Moving Teaneck Forward Together!

Would you like a lawn sign?

We need to reach as many friends and neighbors as possible to get out the word this election season.

If you’re able to contribute to my election fund, please consider helping us.  We depend on residents like you so that we can be there for you when you need us.

Stay Teaneck Strong!

Whether it’s advocacy for democracy here at home or across the globe, Teaneck residents have a strong foundation for human rights and personal freedoms.  We must never take these gifts for granted and always fight to defend them.

On November 8th, please join your neighbors in re-electing Keith Kaplan to the Township Council!

While we have accomplished a lot, we still have much left to do.  The groundwork is complete to refresh our local parks for decades to come.  We need to continue capital improvement projects for our infrastructure and work with our State and Federal representatives to bring money back to Teaneck.

Why Re-Elect Keith Kaplan?
Experience Matters

Having served as your Councilman for four years since 2018, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge to enable me to hit the ground running.

Responsive Government

I understand that people don’t have a lot of time – that’s why crafting codes that are simple to read and understand is so important.

Reducing Headaches

We need our Building Department, DPW, and others to help residents and reduce red tape.  Customer Service is a top priority for my next term.

Leading The Way

We must respond responsibly to the housing crisis in a way that reflects our values as a community.  We led the way in the past; we must continue to do so in the future.

At a time of economic uncertainty, we must continue the zero-increase budgets that we have passed every year under my term in office.

Goals
We must have safe and reliable parks for our kids, including bathrooms in every park!

As a dad of three young children, I know how important and necessary these amenities are for our local parks.  We will continue to responsibly use our Municipal Open Space Trust Fund to create modern bathrooms in all of our community parks.

We must upgrade equipment in parks and continue capital projects such as road resurfacing.

We need to reduce barriers to entry for our local businesses and maintain appropriate budgets and bonding.

We need to be able to know, at a glance, where you can park or operate equipment.  We need to update our policies and codes to better reflect the changing nature of our times.

Past Achievements
Removed Barriers

We eliminated redundancy and requirements that hampered businesses and homeowners.

Revised Our Code

We updated the Township Code for the first time in decades, so residents could know what our laws actually are.

Transparency and Communication

We have increased transparency in how government functions, through explanatory postings, a quarterly newsletter, and email/outreach efforts.

Infrastructure Upgrades

We put bathrooms in the Votee Park Field House and Phelps Park with plans to continue in all local parks.

We continued to pave a record number of roads and worked with our Federal and State representatives to identify grants and other opportunities for infrastructure upgrades to help our community, including the bridge project over the railroad tracks.

Vote for Keith Kaplan on November 8th!
With your help, I will be able to continue the great work we have started.

Let’s do this Teaneck!

What his colleagues say about him:

“With numerous incumbents retiring or choosing not to run for re-election, we need veteran public servants like Councilman Kaplan re-elected to help us protect many of our residents’ largest, most treasured investments – our homes and our families.``

Mark Schwartz

Deputy Mayor
“I look forward to serving with Councilman Kaplan back on the dais, continuing the drive towards cutting red tape for our businesses and our residents as well as being a strong advocate for our zero tax increase budgets these past four years.``

Michael Pagan

Councilman
“Councilman Kaplan was a driving force in making the Rodda Center a vaccination site which in turn administered more than 170,000 vaccines to help protect our residents and our neighbors from COVID-19. That same determination to get things done and finish the job he started is exactly what is needed to help move Teaneck forward through these challenging times.”

Moving Teaneck Forward Together

These have been challenging years to be an elected representative. I've worked hard, collaboratively, to not merely survive these trying times, but to modernize, upgrade and improve Township offerings to residents.

In my years on council, I have brought in sustainable smart development, created affordable housing opportunities and much more.

I hope you'll join us in Moving Teaneck Forward together!
